The
Sandy Historical Museum was completed in 2006, thanks to
many volunteers and generous donations. This building is a
repository for the artifacts and history of the Sandy area,
which encompasses the entire Oregon Trail School District,
which includes Sandy, Boring, the Greater Mount Hood area
and other surrounding cities. This beautiful 8,500 square
foot building was completed in honor of Be Nelson, who
donated the land for the Sandy Pioneer Park. His wish, in
the original deed, was that the Sandy Historical Society
“establish a monument where meetings could be held, pioneer
relics could be displayed, mementos kept and where memories
of the past could be kept alive”.
The museum sits on Pioneer Boulevard, a part of the original
Barlow Road and displays maps and information on this road,
information on the founding family Francis and Lydia
Revenue, a wonderful historical display of the Logging
industry from the mid 1800's and many more interesting
displays. A library of historical data is available for
research or just enjoyment.
